Hot & Saucy Weekend in Austin

If you are in the Austin area this weekend you should mosey on over to Gettin' Sauced on Saturday and the Austin Hot Sauce Festival on Sunday.

The Gettin' Sauced festival is in it's second year and is shaping up to be quite an event. Last check there were over 170 different sauces entered from all over the country. What better place to hold a BBQ festival than at brewery, hence the venue is Independence Brewing Company. The siren song of BBQ, live music, and beer is calling. I cannot resist. TexasFood.com is a proud supporter of this event which is being organized by the fine folks over at Man Up Texas BBQ.

After the BBQ hangover wears off on Sunday, head over to Waterloo Park for the Austin Chronicle Hot Sauce Festival benefiting the Capital Area Food Bank. Admission is free with few donated canned goods or cash donation. At the festival, you can sample all kinds of hot sauces and salsa and even enter your own salsa into the competition.

I will be scoping out interesting new products and visiting with our friends Cin Chili and Kala's Kuisine. If you go to this event, I urge you to bring a gallon sized bottle of ice water, you'll need it.
